2015 Lord of the Lakes - 100g Pu-erh Cake

$20.00

Quick Sips: Powerful ripe pu-erh with tons of complexity. As first it seems thick and minerally, but this one is still showing new complexities to me every time I drink it. Look for cherry and an old growth forest feel.

Lord of the Lakes is a blend of Bulang Mountain material from 2007 and Menghai area material from 2012. The Bulang material is what is called "golden pu-erh", and consists of huge buds that are fermented in cloth bags rather than pile-fermented. The Menghai area material is a gong ting (small golden buds) grade blended with the last of our 2012 Huron Gold Needle pu-erh!

The resulting blend is immensely rich and satisfying, with a lot of complexity and unique character! There are notes of dark bittersweet chocolate, spice, mineral-rich petrichor and tart cherry. There is a nice sweetness following each sip that reminds me of brown sugar. Light to medium fermentation on the base material gives a very active mouthfeel and aftertaste. The cha qi is quite noticeable, inducing a really relaxed state of mind and body for me.

This tea is definitely ready for drinking but will also improve and change quite a bit over the years! Very reactive to humidity changes, so let it settle out for at least a week once it's arrived at your house. Lord of the Lakes seems to thrive at around 65% humidity.

Enjoy! :-)

There were 500 cakes produced from this pesticide free material.
